Circumcision Revision & Correction
Incomplete, imprecise, or cosmetically unsatisfactory circumcision results — corrected with 40+ years of experience
Not every circumcision produces the result it should. Whether the original procedure left too much skin, created an uneven appearance, resulted in a skin bridge, or simply did not meet the standards expected — correction is possible. Rabbi Nechemia Markovits, M.B., has been performing circumcision revision and correction procedures for over 40 years, with more than 20,000 procedures performed since 1986. He has seen and corrected virtually every type of circumcision outcome.
Revision is available in-clinic and in-home. Rabbi Markovits serves patients across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Maryland.

Who Seeks Circumcision Correction?
Circumcision correction is more common than most people realize. Patients who seek revision fall into several categories, and Rabbi Markovits welcomes consultations for all of them — without judgment, and with complete discretion.
Adults with Incomplete or Imprecise Circumcision from Infancy
Many adults were circumcised as newborns — either at a hospital by a physician or at a bris — and discover years later that excess foreskin remains, particularly in a flaccid state. This is one of the most common reasons adults seek revision. The result does not meet the standard of a properly performed circumcision, and the individual may have concerns related to hygiene, appearance, or personal comfort. Revision removes the remaining skin and produces a clean, well-defined result.
Cosmetically Unsatisfactory Results
Even when a circumcision is technically complete, the cosmetic outcome may fall short. Uneven skin removal, visible stitch marks, an asymmetric result, or a scar line that draws attention are all situations where revision can improve the outcome. Rabbi Markovits' approach — known as the Markovits Method+ — is built around symmetry, precision, and a clean, natural-looking finish.
Skin Bridges and Adhesions
A skin bridge forms when healing skin from the shaft reattaches to the glans. This is a correctable condition. Rabbi Markovits addresses skin bridges and post-circumcision adhesions as part of his revision practice.
Children and Boys — Post-Circumcision Revision
Some parents notice that their son's circumcision did not heal as expected, or that the result appears incomplete as the child grows. Pediatric circumcision revision is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and Rabbi Markovits will advise whether and when correction is appropriate.
Jewish Families — Bris Correction for Kashrut
A separate and important category of circumcision correction applies within the Jewish tradition. A bris that does not meet halachic standards — for example, where excess foreskin still covers the ridge of the glans in a flaccid state — may not be considered halachically valid. In these cases, correction is not merely cosmetic or medical; it is a religious necessity. Rabbi Markovits, as both a rabbinically ordained mohel and a medically trained circumcision specialist, is uniquely qualified to address this situation with both technical precision and full religious authority.
