And beyond being an expert and well-known mohel, he also supervises mohelim, and has already raised many worthy students and borne much fruit; and his name is already well established as one of the singular specialists in complicated circumcision cases.
And I too have seen from him many holy circumcisions, and I saw that he is a man swift in his work, and his deeds are the work of a skilled craftsman’s hands, and his hands are greatly capable, and his learning is well ordered for him, exceedingly so, with superior proficiency. And I saw that he is a man in whom there is spirit, to understand and to discern — both from the side of halacha in these weighty topics, and in proficiency and practical application, with great exactness.

“ I come on behalf of the bearer of this letter, namely the wholehearted and upright man, venerable and pious, Rabbi Nechemia Markovits shlit”a, who performs the work of God faithfully, bringing Israel into the covenant of Abraham our father, peace be upon him.
Now, that which is well known requires no proof, and what is revealed to us and to our children is this: that the aforementioned Rabbi is an expert mohel, and the practitioner has been established by experience these many years as a skilled hand in the proper performance and execution of this commandment. He is exceedingly careful that the seal of the King should not be defective upon him in the slightest degree, and that no mishap should issue from under his hand in anything that branches from or is required for this — both with tender infants and with adults, up to the age of old age. And many worthy people go to lengths to obtain him for the proper performance and execution of this work, because of his carefulness, his meticulous fulfillment, and his exactness in all its details.
And further, he has raised worthy students in this field, under certain conditions — for example, that they must be thoroughly versed in its laws, with close precision, and review and rehearse them; and also, from time to time as time goes on, to examine them and determine whether they have changed anything from what he instructed them.
And how good is a word in its season: in the days of Chanukah, when the war of the Hasmoneans against the Hellenizers is recalled, who decreed then concerning circumcision that it not be performed in its proper manner — therefore I have come to disclose his hidden qualities in a place where he is not known, that it is proper to rely upon him in the craft of circumcision, in the making of covenants. And in addition to all this, he is exceedingly careful to fulfill the commandment with cleanliness and the like, so that it should not, God forbid, cause any illness, God forbid.
And therefore, by right, he should receive his reward in full; may Elijah, the angel of the covenant, stand at his right hand to support him. And may there be fulfilled concerning him: ‘May the Merciful One bless him who circumcises the flesh of the foreskin, and performs peri’ah and metzitzah of the blood of the circumcision,’ etc. And may we all merit speedily that which is written: ‘And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring,’ etc. And may the seal of the King that is in our flesh not be counterfeit, and may it be a testimony that the Divine Presence rests among us, through the lighting of the menorah in the Holy Temple. “ I hereby come to recommend the honored one — my friend, my dear one, and my Mechuten — the Rabbi known in the gates and among the treasured people, our teacher Rabbi Nechemia Markovits shlit”a, expert mohel, one of the leading mohelim in the United States, and president of the USA Mohel center.
I speak of one whom I know and recognize: the aforementioned Rabbi is a singular expert in the craft of circumcision, and has performed his sacred work faithfully for close to forty years, all of them equally for the good. And merit is brought about through the meritorious — for he merited, and brought merit to thousands of Israel, to bring them into the covenant of Abraham our father, peace be upon him, with superior skill, according to the religion and law of the Torah, in all its exact details and particulars.
And great is his ability in the craft of circumcision, and he is among the leading mohelim of the United States. He also merited to raise many worthy students — expert mohelim according to religion and law — and that which is well known requires no proof. And he is of a line, son to father, in the established standing of his father: the son of the Gaon and Chassid Rabbi Ezriel z”l, expert mohel and shochet u’bodek in the holy community of Strasbourg, may God protect it — generations of well-known expert mohelim among the congregation of Yeshurun.
And already the practitioner has become established by experience, and his work likewise established, and his reputation has gone out into the world. And I myself have seen many, many circumcisions by the honored Rabbi mentioned above, and I saw that he is a great expert, and he is a craftsman who knows his craft, and he is wondrously proficient in all the laws and rulings of circumcision, with good reason and understanding. And many have already testified concerning him that his ability is excellent and his prowess great in this craft and proficiency — and hearing is not comparable to seeing.
Therefore I say concerning the good work: may it be strengthened, and may the desire of God prosper in his hand; and may the Blessed Name grant him many more years to serve in holiness in complete health, and may they go from strength to strength. And may the merit of this great commandment — which is the foundation of the world’s continued existence, as our Sages of blessed memory said (Nedarim 31): ‘Were it not for this commandment, heaven and earth would not endure’ — stand for him and for his descendants after him forever. And our Rabbis of blessed memory have already said (Midrash Aggadah, Bereishis 17): ‘Even though Israel has no good deeds, the Holy One, blessed be He, redeems them in the merit of circumcision.’ May it be His will that we merit this speedily in our time, in the joy of Israel, with the coming of the righteous redeemer, speedily in our days, amen."

Rabbi Markovits was quoted as an expert on newborn circumcision aftercare in the New York Post’s national coverage of the October 2025 federal Tylenol discussion. The story was covered by VIN News, The Lakewood Scoop, Matzav, BP Daily and The Yeshiva World, and syndicated by AOL News.
What Rabbi Markovits told the Post
The Post contacted Rabbi Markovits for comment on whether Tylenol given after circumcision could be connected to autism. He was the only circumcision practitioner quoted in the story. He did not address the autism question, which is outside his expertise. What he could speak to was the premise: the claim assumes newborns are given Tylenol after circumcision, and in 40 years he has never had a newborn patient on Tylenol.

“I place a light gauze with Vaseline to protect the area, and if there’s any mild discomfort, parents can use a gentle topical spray on the first day. Every family has direct access to me afterward through WhatsApp, and I guide them personally through the healing process until everything is completely healed.”
In a follow-up statement published by Matzav, VIN News and The Lakewood Scoop, Rabbi Markovits gave his comments in full:
“As for any possible link between circumcision, Tylenol, and autism — that’s really outside my area of expertise. I’ve never had newborns use Tylenol, and I don’t have any data or experience that would allow me to comment on that connection. My focus is simply on providing safe, comfortable, and natural healing for each patient.”
